Saru design is a young Australian design company set up to promote innovative design products developed in Australia.

Our initial product, the folds lighting range was designed exclusively by Steven Pooley and is manufactured in Australia. Future ranges include a series of high quality lighting, furniture and homeware products.

The inspiration for the folds lights was developed from the concept of designing a range of elegant lights whereby by a single sheet of plastic is transformed into a sculptural form by folding. The lights were inspired by the pursuit of creating a beautiful object from the simplest of raw materials and manufacturing processes.

Steven Pooley has worked in Australia and the UK in both the interior and furniture design industries. Previous projects include interior design for corporate lawyer's offices, investment banks, international airports and government offices.

Steven is passionate about design and is actively involved with the development of the design community in Western Australia through his involvement in the 'FORM' designing futures program. Steven recently exhibited the folds lighting range at the Milan furniture fair and aims to exhibit new products on regular basis in the future.
